On the Utah/Arizona border

Because it sounded a bit fantastical, I was not entirely certain that this place actually existed or that we would be able to find it. But my hopes were high! I read about it once on Instagram and was committed to seeing my initial obsession through. A selenite mine where you can gather crystals right off the ground? Yes please!

GLITTER MOUNTAIN! It's real. :)

Well ... good news! I'm here to tell you that it does exist and was surprisingly easy to find! After a few miles down a bumpy dirt road, we knew we were on the right track when we saw a hillside shining off in the distance. The ground was covered in crystals, each one reflecting the sun. You can even take some with you, so long as you Venmo a few dollars to the mine claim.

I loved seeing and sifting through the sparkly rocks, but my favorite thing about this stop seeing how excited kids were to explore the area. I talked to a few of them and they showed off the rocks they found with big smiles and lots of pride. As we were pulling away, a young family was walking up and their daughter shouted "GLITTER MOUNTAIN!" With so much joy in her voice. So I guess it is official that I never really grew up, because I felt the exact same way.
